I know what you're thinking. And yes, sometimes it gets to be too much. We've all seen lots of unfriending on Facebook and endless fights on Twitter. Some folks even take a complete break from social media to get away from the constant stream of other people's opinions. The arguments about plastic straws and impeachment a year ago were nothing compared to the battles we see now about wearing face masks and opening barber shops. The willingness to share opinions is obvious on the Plastics News editorial page, too. Before this year, we frequently ran little teasers in

The name game. Does it seem like the world has changed during the past six months? Or at least your perception of the world? It adds a business with annual sales of $1.1 billion, 46 manufacturing sites in 29 countries and 3,500 employees. "They.

As state governments grapple with how to bolster weak markets for recycled plastics and other materials, they're increasingly looking at laws requiring companies to use recycled content in packaging. New Jersey, for example, is considering new legislation that would be among the strictest in the country in mandating recycled plastic in a wide range of beverage bottles, rigid containers, trash bags and carryout bags, along with recycled content in glass and paper packaging. It mirrors actions underway in other states, particularly around plastic bottles. The legislature in Washington state, for example, passed a law in March mandating recycled plastic in beverage bottles, starting at 10 percent and rising to 50 percent.

KraussMaffei Group GmbH says it has developed the world’s most modern recompounding line featuring a proprietary cutter-compactor unit for pre-treating post-consumer waste of any type and a turnkey module for recycling it. The Hanover, Germany-based machine engineering firm says its EdelweissCompounding technology offers a two-stage extrusion system comprised of two twin-screw extruders arranged in a series for melt processing and compounding. The use of two twin-screw extruders is a novelty compared to past combinations of a single-screw and a twin-screw extruder, according to KraussMaffei, which says the benefits include high degassing capacities, odor removal, ideal dispersive and dispersing mixing effects, and gentle melt treatment with.

Northfield, Minn.-based LiteSentry LLC came up with a version of its distortion inspection technology for sheet plastic extrusion applications, including architecture. The Osprey 9 CW provides real-time inspection and measurement of optical distortions over the entire web of polycarbonate and acrylic in continuous products. The inspection happens soon after the forming process but prior to cutting into sheets so extruders can recognize distortion issues and use process control information to adapt forming variables, such as thickness. LiteSentry says several sheet plastic extruders that service the architectural industry use the equipment, which is a refined version of the technology it has provided glass fabricators for 20 years. The syste.
