International industrial services company Baker Hughes has entered into a 10-year agreement to purchase 100% of its Texas electricity from renewable sources, eliminating 12% of the company’s global carbon equivalent emissions. Designed in collaboration with Energy Edge Consulting and EDF Energy Services, the agreement combines renewable energy from the Texas-based White Mesa Wind project, owned […]. .

Officials are doing little to reduce the biggest source of pollutants in local water, researchers find. Los Angeles beaches are plagued by stormwater pollution that can make people sick and damage ecosystems, and local governments are largely failing to address the hazards, according to a new report. The LA region has made little progress toward reducing pollution from stormwater, which is the single greatest source of pollutants in local rivers, lakes and the ocean, according to with Heal the Bay, a not-for-profit environmental organization.

BAGHDAD — A third anti-government activist has been murdered in Iraq in less than 10 days, police and medics said Wednesday, as the United Nations accused militias of killing and abducting demonstrators.Protesters have complained of an intensifying campaign of intimidation in a country where pro-Iranian armed groups integrated into the security forces wield growing influence.
Connecting the dots: Energy transfer (ET) from carbon dots embedded in crystalline Mn‐containing open‐framework matrices results in high‐efficiency red room‐temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emissions. Varying the carbon dot precursors and the heteroatom coordination geometries enables the emissions to be tuned from red to green/yellow. Abstract. High‐efficiency red room‐temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emissions have been achieved by embedding carbon dots (CDs) in crystalline Mn‐containing open‐framework matrices. The rationale of this strategy relies on two factors: 1) the carbon source, which affects the triplet energy levels of the resulting CDs and thus the spectral overlap and 2) the coordination geometry of the Mn atoms in the crysta.
Long time no C: Aculenes are a class of norsesquiterpenes (C14) that are derived from daucane sesquiterpenes (C15), but the biosynthetic basis of the demethylation remained unknown. Three novel P450 monooxygenases were discovered to catalyze a stepwise demethylation process, and a new ent‐daucane cyclase was also discovered. This work sheds light on how nature performs enzymatic demethylation and reveals new tools to expand chemical diversity. Abstract. Aculenes are a unique class of norsequiterpenes (C14) that are produced by Aspergillus aculeatus. The nordaucane skeleton in aculenes A–D may be derived from an ent‐daucane precursor through demethylation, however, the enzymes involved remain unexplored. We identified the biosynthetic gene cl.
Violet phosphorus single crystals and violet phosphorene have been synthesized. The structure was determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and observed by HRTEM. Violet phosphorus is more stable than black phosphorus. Violet phosphorene was obtained by mechanical and solvent exfoliation under ambient conditions. Abstract. Black phosphorene has attracted much attention as a semiconducting two‐dimensional material. Violet phosphorus is another layered semiconducting phosphorus allotrope with unique electronic and optoelectronic properties. However, no confirmed violet crystals or reliable lattice structure of violet phosphorus had been obtained. Now, violet phosphorus single crystals were produced and the lattice structure has been obtai.
