POMPTON LAKES, N.J. — Marcia Bograd, longtime co-owner of the former Bograd’s Fine Furniture in Riverdale, N.J., and a deep influence on the store’s aesthetics and selling philosophy, died Jan. 21. She was 85. Bograd met husband and Bograd’s CEO Joe Bograd during their college days on a student tour of Europe in 1955. The […]. .
Magnetic personality: Electrocrystallisation of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and the magnetic precursor [Co(pdms)2] (H2pdms=1,2‐bis(methanesulfonamido)benzene) afforded a 3D conducting single‐ion magnet. Multiple charge‐transfer interactions between the components produce partial oxidation states for TTF, the Co ion, and the pdms ligand, allowing electrical conductivity at low temperatures. Abstract. The first three‐dimensional (3D) conductive single‐ion magnet (SIM), (TTF)2[Co(pdms)2] (TTF=tetrathiafulvalene and H2pdms=1,2‐bis(methanesulfonamido)benzene), was electrochemically synthesised and investigated structurally, physically, and theoretically. The similar oxidation potentials of neutral TTF and the molecular precursor [HNEt3]2[M(pdms)2] (

Get notified when your friends beat your score. What you need to know. Leaderboards on Oculus will now feature your Facebook friends' high scores. Games can integrate directly with Facebook and publish your scores for friends to see and compete with. Facebook can notify you when scores are beaten so you can punch back right away. Facebook is looking to blur the lines between its social network and its virtual reality division even more with the latest Oculus back-end update.
Folate receptors (FRs) are membrane proteins involved in folic acid uptake, and the alpha isoform (FR‐a) is overexpressed in ovarian and endometrial cancer cells. For fluorescence imaging of FRs in vivo, the near‐infrared (NIR) region (650–900 nm), where tissue penetration is high and autofluorescence is low, is optimal, but existing NIR fluorescent probes targeting FR‐a show high non‐specific tissue adsorption, and require prolonged washout to visualize tumors. We have designed and synthesized a new NIR fluorescent probe, FolateSiR‐1, utilizing a Si‐rhodamine fluorophore having a carboxy group at the benzene moiety, coupled to a folate ligand moiety via a negatively charged tripeptide linker. This probe exhibits very low background fluores.
Locking‐in the conformation of supramolecular assemblies provides a new avenue to regulate the (opto)electronic properties of robust nanoscale objects. In the present contribution, we show that the covalent tethering of a perylene bisimide (PBI)‐derived supramolecular polymer with a molecular locker enables the formation of a locked superstructure equipped with emergent structure‐function relationships. Experiments that exploit variable‐temperature ground‐state electronic absorption spectroscopy unambiguously demonstrate that the excitonic coupling between nearest neighboring units in the tethered superstructure is preserved at a temperature (371 K) where the pristine, non‐covalent assembly exists exclusively in a molecularly dissolved stat.
A new NASICON‐type high‐voltage cathode material of Na3V(PO3)3N was synthesized and its electrochemical performance was improved by carbon matrix decoration. An in‐depth investigation of the material was performed through in situ XAS and XRD, and its 3D sodium pathways were clearly identified through DFT calculations. Abstract. Herein, we introduce a 4.0 V class high‐voltage cathode material with a newly recognized sodium superionic conductor (NASICON)‐type structure with cubic symmetry (space group P213), Na3V(PO3)3N. We synthesize an N‐doped graphene oxide‐wrapped Na3V(PO3)3N composite with a uniform carbon coating layer, which shows excellent rate performance and outstanding cycling stability. Its air/water stability and all‐climate perfo.
The low efficiency of ammonium fertilizers used in agriculture contributes to significant environmental issues and economic losses. This Review discusses the chemistry and enzymatic mechanisms of microbial nitrification in the soil and highlights phytochemicals which can act as nitrification inhibitors, thus providing opportunities to stabilize ammonium in farm soils to increase the efficiency of nitrogen use. Abstract. Approximately two percent of the world's energy is consumed in the production of ammonia from hydrogen and nitrogen gas. Ammonia is used as a fertilizer ingredient for agriculture and distributed in the environment on an enormous scale to promote crop growth in intensive farming. Only 30–50 % of the nitrogen applied is assimi.
