. Microsoft says the root cause is issues with the discrete GPU inside the notebook. Two things may happen, Microsoft said in a : Either Nvidia’s discrete GPU may disappear from the Device Manager, or games that require the discrete GPU may simply refuse to open. A Surface Book 2 evaluation unit issued to PCWorld by Microsoft experienced that problem, refusing to play the game Broforce , as evidenced by the screenshot that accompanies this story.

, a whopping $90 off its list price. The Acer Aspire E15 (E5-576-392H) is a bargain laptop that delivers solid productivity performance. Given its low price, mainstream users may be willing to overlook the laptop’s extra weight, so-so display and lack of keyboard backlighting. But if you have any high-demand applications (or a bit of a gaming bug), it would be better to consider one of its pricier cousins.

Microsoft claims that its Teams collaboration tool now has 13 million active daily users. But a few new features may not exactly be welcomed by those who use it. Employers will probably love the fact that a new Time Clock feature will allow employees to clock in and out, including for breaks. Employees may not appreciate the fact that those notifications can be geofenced, meaning that if you’re not quite back in your office when you say you are, your employer will know. Microsoft. Announcements are now part of Microsoft Teams. To read this article in full, please click here.

Steam is enormous, and growing more so by the day. And that presents a problem: How the hell do you find anything that isn’t already on your radar? It’s less a needle in a haystack, more a needle in a hayfield—and that’s after Valve tried to solve the problem once already, with 2014’s Discovery Update . Five years later, it’s time to try again. This time, Valve’s approach is a bit more advanced—and a bit more scattershot. Under the umbrella of Steam Labs , Valve’s rolling out three new experiments that should hopefully streamline the discovery process and help you find the odd diamond among Steam’s 30,000 game library. Music is a great way to liven up your Google Sheets presentations and keep your audience engaged. Unlike Microsoft PowerPoint, however, Google Sheets doesn’t include support for audio files. But with the following workarounds, you can add a soundtrack to any slide. (Updated July 10, 2019, with a new workaround via YouTube.). Add a link to an online music file. The easiest way to add music to your Google Slides presentation is to link to a track from an online music service like Spotify, Soundcloud, or Grooveshark. 1. Open a Google Slides presentation in your web browser and go the slide to which you want to add music. 2. Select Insert > Text box from the menu, or click the text box button in the toolbar. Click anywhere on the slide to automat.

Microsoft said Tuesday that it has scheduled Paint 3D's Remix 3D archive for termination—and if you don't know what that is, then you probably were one of the many who ignored both apps. Now is a good time to highlight Magic Select, another feature of Paint 3D, which could have a great future in other Windows utilities. Twitter users WalkingCat and developer Rudy Huyn unearthed what appears to be plans to shut down the Remix 3D database of user-created 3D art by January 2020. Microsoft has since confirmed it within the Paint 3D app. (If you haven’t heard of Remix 3D, don’t worry—that’s apparently why it’s being discontinued.). We don’t usually like to report on rumors here at PCWorld because, well, they’re usually (but not always) full of crap. But you’ll want to take the latest “leak” of Intel’s 10th-gen Comet Lake Core processors with an even bigger helping of salt than usual. These slides just scream fake. The Comet Lake slide first came to our attention from Computerbase , which duly remarked that some things seem off. Still, we’ve since seen it repeated several other times around the web and on other PC sites without skepticism. (No, we won’t name names.) Make no mistake: The advances these slides promise would be amazing if they wind up true. Ten-core processors! Hyper-threading for everyone! Prices that compete with AMD’s outstanding new Ryzen 3000 process.

The Raspberry Pi 4 launched in late June and as usual, it’s a major upgrade over the prior model, packing more RAM, enough graphics horsepower to drive a pair of 4K displays, and USB-C charging instead of micro-USB. But there’s a problem: The USB-C charging doesn’t work with some USB-C chargers. Compatibility woes are nothing new with USB-C, but in this case, the problem lies with the Pi. As first described by Tyler Ward, the Raspberry Pi 4 uses “incorrect detection circuitry on the Pi end of the USB connection.” The $35 micro-PC shares a single resistor for two of the USB-C port’s pins, while the official USB-C spec calls for each pin to get a resistor of its own. This non-compliant design breaks functionality with more powerful “e-marked”

I must admit, I wasn’t expecting all that much from Addlink’s S70 SSD. I’d never heard of the company before, and a 1TB NVMe SSD for the stunningly low price of $120 raises every red flag I know concerning performance. Well, pickle me and call me ridiculous if the S70 didn’t run rings around the other budget drives, and many pricier models in our testing, easily earning an Editor's Choice. The market just got very interesting. This review is part of our ongoing roundup of the best SSDs . Go to that story for information on competing products and how we tested. Specs and design. There’s not a whole lot to say about the design of the S70 other than it’s your average M.2 NVMe SSD, which is in the standard 2280 form factor (22 mm wide, 80 mm lon.

The Amazon Prime Day celebration isn’t just about low prices—starting today, YouTube will finally be available to watch on Amazon Fire TV devices , marking a serious thaw in the cold war between Google and Amazon over competing devices and streaming services. Prime Video will also be available for streaming to Google Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra dongles and Android TV sets and boxes, and YouTube Kids and YouTube TV will make their way to Amazon devices later this year.

That long line you see in the photo above isn’t for the latest Avengers movie or a new pair of Jordan sneakers going on sale. Instead, the lines outside your local computer store this Sunday were PC enthusiasts waiting to buy AMD’s hotly anticipated Ryzen 3000 CPUs. Yes—a desktop CPU. Micro Center officials confirmed to PCWorld on Monday that several of its stores had PC DIYers lined up to buy AMD’s much-hyped CPU when they went on sale early in the morning. AMD, for its part, has described the launch of the new Ryzen 3000 series as “historic” and described demand as “significant.”For Joe and Jane DIY, the excitement meant queuing up for AMD’s 6 a.m. Eastern launch. Fortunately, as our Ryzen 9 3900X review demonstrates , the wait was worth.
