PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — National Security Minister Stuart Young yestersday announced that the Government will be rolling out a new TT$100 bill.The new polymer bill was displayed on the Central Bank website yesterday afternoon.Young said the replacement TT$100 note will be harder to counterfeit and would also undermine the use of stored cash to fund criminal activity.

Two member organisations of the Caribbean Association of Banks Inc (CAB) have been recognised by internationally-renowned financial magazine, The Banker, in its bank of the year awards. The two banks are 1st National Bank of St Lucia and Jamaica's National Commercial Bank Financial Group (NCBFG).The announcement was made on Friday last (November 29) in an award ceremony held in London, England, wherein the two banks were named the most outstanding in the Caribbean.

Scotia Group is reporting meagre growth in profits for 2019, due in part to lower net interest income from declining interest rates and higher loan loss provisions.In its just released annual report for 2019, Scotia reports that its profits grew by a mere 3.2 per cent or $419 million across the financial group, moving from $12.77 billion in 2018 to $13.19 billion for the year ended October 31, 2019.

Residents of Lionel Town and surrounding areas of Clarendon, who were previously employed to the closed Monymusk Sugar Factory and who intend to pursue farming on acreages of former sugar lands, are to benefit from input materials such as seeds and fertilisers.The fertiliser is to be sourced from some 2,400 tonnes being provided by the Kingdom of Morocco to the Government's Production Incentive Programme.
