Seven months after he was convicted of rape, disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein has been stripped of his CBE honor by Queen Elizabeth II. An announcement on Friday said that the queen had stripped Weinstein of the prestigious honor he received in January 2004 and that "his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order," and . Questions about whether the honor, which is "one of the United Kingdom's highest" and is awarded to those who have made a "distinguished, innovative contribution to any area," would be rescinded ever since dozens of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Weinstein came to light in 2017.

Let’s get one thing straight: I have never liked the name Ironman. Maybe it sounded good in 1970s Hawaii when endorphin-fueled athletes with military backgrounds argued who were fitter, swimmers or runners. Or perhaps cyclists, someone else had chimed in. There was only one way to settle it: They would combine the 2.4 mile (3.9km) Waikiki Roughwater Swim with 112 miles (180km) of the Around-Oahu Bike Race and the 26.2 mile (42.2km) Honolulu Marathon into a single one-day event. Whoever won would be known as the Iron Man. That I don’t like the name doesn’t stop me from participating, however. Nor from attempting.

The annals of science brim with researchers who pushed the boundaries of sense and good taste in a laudable quest for knowledge. With the unveiling of the 30th annual Ig Nobel awards, another case shall be added. To test the validity of a story in a work of ethnographic literature, Metin Eren, an anthropologist at Kent State University in Ohio, made a knife from his frozen feces. He then set about butchering an animal hide, an endeavor that ended in failure. “It’s an honor to be recognized,” Eren said, before the ceremony in which he was honored for his work on Thursday.

Down by 14 in Game 1, the Miami Heat found a way. Down by 17 in Game 2, they did it again. After making the Boston Celtics lose another big lead on the court — as well as their cool in the locker room — the unheralded Heat are two wins away from the NBA Finals. Goran Dragic on Thursday scored 25 points and Bam Adebayo led a big third-quarter rally to finish with 21, as the Heat pulled off another comeback to beat the Celtics 106-101 and take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals. "We got grit," Adebayo said.

A US judge on Thursday blocked controversial US Postal Service (USPS) changes that have slowed mail nationwide, calling them "a politically motivated attack on the efficiency of the Postal Service" before the November election. Judge Stanley Bastian in Yakima, Washington, said that he was issuing a nationwide preliminary injunction sought by 14 states that sued the administration of US President Donald Trump and the US Postal Service. The states challenged the USPS’ so-called "leave behind" policy, where trucks have been leaving postal facilities on time regardless of whether there is more mail to load.

While institutions, governments, elected officials, companies and sports federations are all having to adapt to new constraints under the COVID-19 pandemic, experts say they are often using the health crisis as an excuse to restrict journalists’ access. Fewer physical news conferences, questions that must be submitted in advance or sometimes no questions at all, queries that go unanswered — information does not circulate well in the age of COVID-19. Examples include international soccer matches, in which UEFA ditched mixed zone areas where journalists usually get to quiz players, and Fashion Weeks, where it has been almost impossible to question designers.
