Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi responded to the USA announcement of a range of additional measures to strengthen enforcement of UN sanctions on Iran. "I thank the US dedicated action", Ashkenazi wrote, "leaded by President Trump and Secretary Pompeo, at the UN Security Council towards preventing the lifting of the arms embargo on Iran. I call on all countries to stand with the US, prevent the sale of weapons to Iran, and to enforce the sanctions in their entirety. "I call on our friends, the E3 countries – France, Britain, and Germany – to retreat from their opposition and work towards rigorously implementing the sanctions regime on the national level, as well as on the EU level and through UN mechanisms".

US President Donald Trump on Saturday said that he would nominate a woman to succeed late US Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The president’s desire to "to move quickly" on the process, despite Democrats’ vehement opposition, is likely to dominate the campaigns — alongside other hot-button issues such as COVID-19 and the US’ ongoing racial reckoning — ahead of the Nov. 3 election. "I think it’s going to move quickly actually," Trump told reporters outside the White House, adding that he thought his choice would be made "next week.".

This year’s ferocious wildfires on the US west coast are taking a heavy toll on exhausted firefighters who see no end in sight to the blazes, with the COVID-19 pandemic adding another layer of risk. For Chula Vista Fire Department Battalion Chief Darrell Roberts, a 20-year veteran firefighter in California, the more than two dozen major wildfires raging across the state and the unprecedented scale of the blazes are a stark reminder of climate change and the new normal. "When resources are stripped thin and literally every firefighter is out on the front lines, and you have firefighters coming from all over.

"I want him to pay for everything I’ve suffered," said a short, frail 24-year-old Romanian who was forced into prostitution by a man who duped her. The man with whom she fell in love trafficked her in Romania and then to Austria before she managed to escape. "Once he hit me with a chair and almost killed me," another 31-year-old victim said, adding that the experience pushed her "to the brink of suicide.".

At the "Genghis Security Academy," which bills itself as China’s only dedicated bodyguard school, students learn that the threats to the country’s newly rich in the tech age are more likely to emerge from a hacker than a gunman. Each day students in matching black business suits toil from dawn until midnight at the school in the eastern city of Tianjin, where digital defenses are given equal pegging to the traditional close-protection skill set of combat, weapons training and high-speed driving. About 1,000 graduate each year, hoping to land jobs as guards to China’s burgeoning ranks of rich and famous, positions which.

In a dramatic last-gasp turnaround Tadej Pogacar on Saturday won the Tour de France as the overnight leader Primoz Roglic suffered a mountainside meltdown during a thrilling individual time-trial on the last day of real racing. It was a staggering end to a bizarre Tour and the penultimate stage duel between two compatriots of different generations is to go down as one of this year’s great sporting moments. The 21-year-old Pogacar was to lead the peloton into Paris yesterday wearing the overall leader’s yellow jersey and, barring a freak disaster, would climb onto the top step of the podium. "I cried, I’m sure.

Barcelona’s embattled club president has no intention of resigning after more than 20,000 club members signed a petition for Josep Bartomeu and his board to face a censure vote. "No one is thinking about stepping down," Bartomeu told Catalan television TV3 on Saturday before Barcelona beat Elche 1-0 in its third and final preseason match. On Thursday the group of club members wanting a change in the leadership handed in 20,687 signatures calling for a referendum over whether the board should be removed. That surpassed the 16,520 signatures — the equivalent to 15 percent of all members — needed to force the vote.

Italians headed to the polls yesterday — to the alarm of virus experts — for a referendum and regional elections that could weaken the government and radically reshape the political landscape. Just a week after a Herculean effort by schools to reopen in line with last-minute COVID-19 rules, classrooms across the country were shut to pupils and transformed into ballot stations for the two-day vote. A triumph for the far-right in the fiercely fought campaign would sound alarm bells in Brussels. It was the first test for Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte’s center-left coalition government since it imposed an economically crippling nationwide lockdown.

Printed circuit board supplier Mutual-Tek Industries Co Ltd (相互股份) is to end production in Taiwan, as the US-China trade dispute and Washington’s sanctions on Huawei Technologies Inc (華為) have significantly reduced its revenue, it said on Saturday. The company, based in New Taipei City’s Sinjhuang District (新莊), said in a regulatory filing that it would move all production capacity to Changshu in China’s Jiangsu Province, with Taiwan serving as its operational headquarters. The adjustment is expected to affect about 600 employees, it said. "The sudden decrease in Huawei’s orders has significantly reduced the company’s capacity utilization and seriously affected the company’s operations," Mutual-Tek.
