The versatile enzyme is touted by the company for enabling manufacturers to mitigate the time and cost of cheese maturation.

05 Jun 2020 --- Southeast Asian agri-food tech accelerator GROW is spearheading a new 100 percent online program, backed by the venture capital platform Agfunder. Developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the supply chain weaknesses it has laid bare, Singapore Food Bowl is aimed at building a more resilient, decentralized agri-food ecosystem. The program also ties into Singapore’s “30 by 30” policy initiative, which aims for the city-state to enhance its food security by domestically sourcing 30 percent of its nutritional needs by 2030 – up from less than 10 percent today.

04 Jun 2020 --- Campbell Soup has released its third quarter results for fiscal 2020, highlighting favorable gains in its meals and beverage segment, which enjoyed tidal sales of soup. This move will make Philadelphia the first cream cheese brand to use recycled plastic in its packaging, according to the snacking giant. The launch is an “important step” in Mondelēz’s long-term goal to achieve zero net waste and comes amid intensified consumer demand for circular packaging solutions in food and beverages.

02 Jun 2020 --- China has approved the import of whey permeate for use in F&B products. Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI) has welcomed this news, which comes as a result of a recent . However, the standard allows permeate from any country to be exported to China provided it complies with the material and sensory requirements. In mid-May, China released an official safety and quality standard for using permeate powders in food processing, which AFI says signifies that the country is ready to accept imports of the ingredient with immediate effect.

02 Jun 2020 --- Five percent of chicken on UK supermarket shelves now meets the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC) with approximately 30 million birds per year, according to the science-based chicken welfare policy. BCC is a set of criteria for improving the lives of broiler chickens, specifically raised for meat. “By prohibiting the use of fast-growing breeds, allowing more space and better living conditions, the BCC eliminates some of the very worst problems inherent in the factory farming of chicken,” the organization underscores.
