Over 20 biopharma firms have come together to launch the AMR Action Fund, an initiative of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), with a goal to deliver between two and four new antibiotic therapies by 2030 in a bid to tackle the growing threat of antibiotic resistance (AMR). The fund has so far raised almost $1 billion to support clinical research with further investment planned, and will link up with a range of players including development banks, philanthropies and multilateral organisations to this end. 07/10/2020 06:24
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S7 line has been frequenting the rumor mill for the last few weeks and we’ve got a good idea of what to expect from the brand’s flagship tablets. Now, listings on Safety Korea’s database gives us a live look at the Galaxy Tab S7+ from the front and back. We can clearly see this will be a big device measuring in at around 280mm in length and 185mm in width (the Tab S6 is 244.5 x 159.5mm for reference) as it's expected to carry a 12.4-inch AMOLED display. Facebook has removed pages of the heavy-metal bands SoldierSS of Evil, Whitelaw, and Frangar for violating the platform’s hate speech policies. The ban follows a new Al Jazeera investigation that identified 120 Facebook pages — with a total of over 800,000 likes — of mostly heavy-metal bands and record labels with direct ties to white supremacist ideology. Al Jazeera flagged five of these pages to Facebook for breaking the platform’s hate speech rules by displaying white supremacist ideology, but two are still under review. Bill de Blasio on Thursday helped to paint the large, bright yellow mural on Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower in Manhattan. Similar murals have been painted on New York City streets and in other US cities including Washington DC, Raleigh in North Carolina, and Oakland in California. The Black Lives Matter movement gained momentum after the death of George Floyd who was killed by police in Minneapolis in May.
