Health systems want to use the best evidence available in their decision making, but they have limited time and resources to identify and evaluate evidence from systematic reviews. EPCs initiated a series of pilot projects in order to identify effective approaches to accelerate the uptake and implementation of evidence from systematic reviews.
Public health concern for playing on synthetic turf fields with crumb rubber infill has increased in recent years. Crumb rubber manufactured from recycled automobile tires contains potential carcinogenic and toxic substances, and, with over 12,000 synthetic turf fields in the United States, the potential for exposure is widespread. The National Toxicology Program (NTP) conducted research to improve the understanding of potential human exposure to crumb rubber and its biological activity. As a part of the NTP research program, a crumb rubber lot, prepared by combining material from multiple commercial sources, was analyzed using a variety of techniques to generate information on chemical and physical characteristics.

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) conducted research to improve the understanding of potential human exposure to crumb rubber and its biological activity. The objective of the studies as described in this report was to evaluate likely exposure scenarios in humans that could be translated into exposure routes for in vivo testing. Feasibility trials, without animals, were conducted to evaluate various crumb rub.

The objective of the in vivo studies as described in this report was to determine if there was evidence of systemic exposure to crumb rubber constituents following exposure to crumb rubber in experimental animals.

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) conducted research to improve the understanding of potential human exposure to crumb rubber and its biological activity. The objective of the in vitro studies as described in this report was to determine the cytotoxicity of extracted crumb rubber using cultured human skin-derived keratinocytes (HaCaT cells) and peripheral lung (HPL-1D) cells to reflect potential cellular ta.
Oral health care and medical health care both seek to maintain and enhance human health and well-being. Yet, dentistry and primary care in the United States are largely separated and isolated from each other. Each has its own siloed systems for education, service delivery, financing, and policy oversight. The result has been duplication of effort, a cultural gap between the two professions, and lost opportunities for productive collaboration and better health. On December 6, 2018, in Washington, DC, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine held a workshop titled Integrating Oral and General Health Through Health Literacy Practices. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.
This guideline covers the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer in secondary care, including information on the best way to diagnose and identify different stages of the disease, and how to manage adverse effects of treatment. It also includes recommendations on follow-up in primary care for people diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate the beneficial and harmful effects of doravirine, in combination with other antiretroviral medicinal products, for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults without past or present evidence of viral resistance to Doravirine.
Many Veterans desire complementary and integrative health or alternative medicine modalities, and art therapy is one such option. Given VA’s desire to promote evidence-based practice, this evidence mapping project aims to help provide guidance to VA leadership about the distribution of evidence on art therapy to inform policy and future directions for art therapy in VA.
A hallmark of high-quality cancer care is the delivery of the right treatment to the right patient at the right time. Precision oncology therapies, which target specific genetic changes in a patient’s cancer, are changing the nature of cancer treatment by allowing clinicians to select therapies that are most likely to benefit individual patients. In current clinical practice, oncologists are increasingly formulating cancer treatment plans using results from complex laboratory and imaging tests that characterize the molecular underpinnings of an individual patient’s cancer. These molecular fingerprints can be quite complex and heterogeneous, even within a single patient. To enable these molecular tumor characterizations to effectively and sa.
