Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group is poised to launch a Hong Kong share sale expected to raise up to USD 13.4 billion as soon as Thursday, according to two sources with knowledge of the discussions. The deal - which would be the world’s biggest cross-border secondary listing - will be seen as a boost for Hong Kong, which has sunk into its first recession in a decade as more than five months of street protests and worries about the US-China trade war took their toll. While Alibaba executives are preparing for a Thursday launch, another source said the timing could slip depending on developments in the protests. Twitter is rolling out a new tool, called Topics, to help you make the most of the conversations you are actually interested in. The new tool allows you to follow conversations about a topic of your interest, similar to how you follow an account. As Google paces towards building a faster and secure web, it has announced that its Chrome browser will start identifying websites based on their loading speed. In the official Chromium Blog, the company explained that Chrome will identify sites which typically load fast or slow using 'badging'. In the third quarter of 2019, the number of DDoS attacks rose by a third compared to the previous period (30 percentage points) and Q3 2018 (32 percentage points) according to statistics gathered from Kaspersky DDoS Protection. This growth was primarily due to a spike in malicious activity in autumn. In fact, 53% of the quarter’s DDoS attacks were carried out in September. The rise is caused by a large number of rather simple types of attacks. Nonetheless, in previous quarters of this year, the total growth stemmed from a surge in the number of smart attacks, focusing on the application layer – usually carried out by skilled cybercriminals. In Q3 2019, the share of ‘smart’ attacks dropped to 28% of all DDoS attacks, from 50% in Q2, and grew.

New Delhi: Shares of Britannia Industries on Wednesday jumped 6 per cent after the company posted 32.90 per cent increase in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September. The scrip gained 5.86 per cent to Rs 3,299 on the BSE. On the NSE, it climbed 5.75 per cent to Rs 3,299. The food company on Monday posted 32.90 per cent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 402.73 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2019. New Delhi: Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel and private equity firm Varde Partners have submitted their bids for assets of debt-laden Reliance Communications, while Reliance Jio has sought extension of the asset sale deal deadline by another 10 days. New Delhi: E-commerce major Amazon on Tuesday said it has rolled out 'Project Zero' in India that will provide brands with additional tools to identify and remove counterfeits from its platform. The initiative was launched earlier this year in the US, Europe (UK, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany) and Japan. "Project Zero builds on our long-standing work and investments to ensure that customers always receive authentic goods when shopping on Amazon. We take feedback seriously and through Project Zero, we are introducing additional proactive mechanisms and powerful tools to identify, block and remove counterfeits," Amazon Customer Trust and Partner Support Vice President Dharmesh Mehta told PTI. Mumbai : After remaining net seller of the US dollar for two consecutive months, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) turned net purchaser of the greenback after it bought USD 5.614 billion in September, RBI data showed. During the reporting month, the RBI purchased USD 6.514 billion and sold USD 900 million in the spot market, according to a recent RBI data. In July 2019, the RBI had turned a net seller of the US dollar for first time in this fiscal, after it sold USD 93 million on a net basis. In August, it sold USD 4.072 billion on net basis in the spot market. In June 2019, RBI purchased USD 2.463 billion, as it bought USD 4.434 billion and sold USD 1.971 billion. In May and April, the Central Bank had purchased USD 2.538 billion and USD 4.9.
