Newly appointed Chief Justice of India, Sharad Bobde, on Saturday opened up on the ongoing protests against the amended Citizenship Act. CJI bobde has reiterated that citizenship was not just about people's rights but also their duties towards society. "You all have a responsibility to be an active citizen too and citizenship is not jus about rights but it is equally about your duties towards society," he said at a facilitation event organised by Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

Asaduddin Owaisi has hit out at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat over his demand for 'two children policy'. The AIMIM President on Saturday said that the real problem in India is not population but unemployment. Lashing out at the RSS chief, Owaisi said, "Shame on you! I am having more than two children and several BJP leaders have more than two children. RSS has always maintained that the Muslim population has to be controlled. This country's real problem is unemployment, not the population."

In a frightening incident, a seven-foot cobra entered the washroom of a girls' hostel at Bharathiar University campus in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The snake was caught entering the university on the camera. Students were shocked to see the cobra on university premises. Since there has been a very thin attendance at the hostel, with over 90 per cent of the women students going to their natives for Pongal holidays.

In order to refute the allegations of being paid, the protesters at Shaheen Bagh have placed posters which read 'No cash, no Paytm'. The posters were displayed at the protest site as it was alleged that women coming to protest were being paid Rs 500 per day. A video regarding this also went viral on social media. Mumtaz, a protester, said: "Taking money via bank account transfer, online transfer or cash is strictly prohibited over here. The posters also say the same. Apart from this, we are repeatedly cautioning the protesters not to take money."

Veteran Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister Ratan Lal Tambi died at SMS Hospital in Jaipur late on Friday night after prolonged illness, a party spokesperson said. He was 84. His funeral was conducted in Bhilwara district's Jahazpur on Saturday, the spokesperson said. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, Assembly Speaker C P Joshi, Health Minister Raghu Sharma and other leaders condoled Tambi's demise.

Hours ahead of the Union Ministers' visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, BJP state unit chief Ravinder Raina has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanking him for sending them.
