New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said India's open foreign direct investment policy offers a conducive environment for Swedish businesses to explore opportunities. New Delhi: In the biggest reform in fuel retailing sector in almost two decades, the government on Wednesday relaxed norms for setting up petrol pumps, allowing non-oil companies to venture into the business - a move that could help private and foreign firms to enter the world's fastest-growing market. At present, to obtain a fuel retailing license in India, a company needs to invest Rs 2,000 crore in either hydrocarbon exploration and production, refining, pipelines or liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. Companies with a net worth of Rs 250 crore will be allowed to sell petrol and diesel subject to condition that they install facilities for marketing of at least one new generation alternate fuel such as CNG, LNG, biofuels or electric ve.

Google has officially announced that it has achieved quantum supremacy with its advanced processor that was able to surpass the world's most powerful supercomputer. Google says that its 54-bit Sycamore processor was able to perform a calculation in 200 seconds that would have taken the world's most powerful supercomputer 10,000 years, The Verge notes. Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg opened the door Wednesday to scaling back plans for its digital coin Libra if it cannot win approval as a new currency for global exchanges. Huawei's first-ever foldable smartphone, Mate X, is finally geared up to go on sale in China on November 15 with a steep price tag. When it comes to shopping during the festive season, Indians prefer using the digital methods, according to a survey conducted by ACI Worldwide and YouGov. The survey found that 42 per cent of consumers in India prefer digital payments with card payments preferred by 29 per cent of consumers and 27 per cent choosing to pay with cash, the official release notes. The preference for digital payments, including eWallet and UPI payments, is more pronounced with younger consumers.

Google released its latest Chrome 78 stable version that brings a host of improvements and bug fixes. A new customisation menu for the New Tab page lets you personalise your tab while the Forced Dark Mode enables dark mode for even those websites which do not support the dark theme, Engadget reports. Chrome 78 also comes with support for Password Checkup that lets you know if you are signing in with unsafe credentials. New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday announced higher minimum support price (MSP) for rabi crops, or winter crops, for the marketing season 2020-21. The crops will be marketed from next April. The Union Cabinet cleared the MSP hike for wheat by Rs 85 to Rs 1,925 a quintal and for pulses by up to Rs 325 per quintal. While the MSP of barley has been raised from Rs 1,440 to Rs 1,525, support prices for rapeseed and mustard oil, gram, safflower and lentils have also been increased.
