The three analyst houses have each published their own perspectives of the market in Q2. We unpick the info on the key areas where they agree and disagree. The three main analyst houses used by the IT industry to size up the market have each published their own perspectives on how the PC market shaped up in the second quarter of 2020. IDC, Gartner and Canalys have each published PC shipment figures for Q2- and all three analyst houses say the market actually grew for the three months ending 31 June. Despite agreeing that the PC market was on the up, the growth rates given by each analyst house vary greatly - with one firm saying the market grew by 2.8 per cent and another claiming that growth in shipments hit double figures at 11.2 per cent.

The pandemic may have slowed M&A activity, but there were still some big deals announced in H1. The M&A market may have seen the brakes applied as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn't mean we've seen no sizable deals. Market consolidation looked to be continuing its relentless pace in the opening weeks of the year, but lockdowns across the world culminated in 10-year low for. Agilitas encourages channel partners to collaborate more. Just 17 per cent of reseller revenue comes from partner-to-partner collaboration, according to research from Agilitas. This represents a drop of eight percentage points since 2017, the service provider added. The majority of respondents to Agilitas' survey did however say that they expect an increase in revenue from collaboration in the future. Comms provider reveals internal reshuffle. A "small number" of jobs at comms provider Maintel are at risk following an internal restructuring. The firm confirmed the potential jobs cuts in a statement to CRN , following chatter on social media. The company said: "We are making a number of changes within our organisation and have created three new executive management roles across sales, services and customer experience in order to better serve our customers and in support of Maintel's transition to a cloud and managed services business. "As a result, there has been some restructuring and re-aligning of our wider team and we are consulting with a small number of employees whose roles are at risk.".

Jason Magee says 'cuts were tactically made across the company'. Connectwise's CEO has confirmed redundancies of the vendor's "global workforce". In a statement Jason Magee said that the coronavirus pandemic has scuppered plans for 2020, leaving the firm needing to "pivot" on its approach. He added that the redundancies were made earlier this week. "Tuesday was a tough day for everyone at ConnectWise, as we completed a reduction of our global workforce," he explained. Rishi Sunak reveals plans aimed at minimising unemployment and saving jobs. The tech industry has reacted positively to parts of the Chancellor's "mini-budget" statement today, praising moves to boost employment opportunities for young people. Rishi Sunak's statement in the House of Commons was largely focused on saving and creating jobs, particularly for people under the age of 24. Canalys analyst Michael Ball on how workers across Europe will change their personas over the coming months. Workforce dynamics in Western European workforce shifted dramatically during March, as the number of remote-only workers increased by 53 million according to Canalys estimates.
