New Delhi : In a bid to promote Sanskrit, the Uttar Pradesh government will now issue press releases in Sanskrit along with Hindi, English and Urdu, an official said on Tuesday. The first press note in Sanskrit was issued by the state government's Information Department on Monday. Senior officials of the Information Department said the important speeches of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and government information will be released also in Sanskrit, along with Hindi, English and Urdu. The department has decided to take help of Lucknow-based Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan for translating chief minister's speeches for public release. New Delhi : Within days of showing the door to a dozen senior Income Tax officials for alleged charges of misconduct, the axe has now fallen on 15 senior revenue officials dealing with indirect taxes on charges ranging from demanding bribe, criminal conspiracy to financial impropriety. Finance Ministry sources said that the axe fell on officials in the rank of Principal Commissioner and Commissioner, besides others of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) under Rule 56 (j) of central civil services (pension) rules. Mumbai : The police on Monday defused a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) found near a school in Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said, "The object resembling a bomb was spotted on a handcart. A bomb detection and disposal squad along with Navi Mumbai police reached the spot after receiving information and dismantled the device.". Further, he added that there was an alarm attached to the device which was set for 12 hours before it was defused. "We have received the CCTV footage and an investigation will be carried out on the basis of the evidence," the senior police official said. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the device contained explosives or cement, the police said.

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Tuesday deferred the hearing on a plea seeking protection of doctors in government hospitals, saying since doctors have called off their strike in West Bengal and other states, there is no urgency to hear the matter. A bench of Justices Deepak Gupta and Surya Kant said it will not issue notice (to the Centre) but is keeping the larger issue of protection of doctors open. Muzaffarpur: With several more deaths reported from Muzaffarpur due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), the death toll in the district mounted to 107 on Tuesday as Bihar continues to grapple with the deadly disease. According to official data, 88 children have died in Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), while 19 have lost their lives in Kejriwal hospital in the city. Sunil Kumar Shahi, Superintendent at the government hospital Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) today confirmed more deaths due to Encephalitis Syndrome in the hospital. Patna: At least 76 people have died in three districts of Bihar, as a searing heatwave swept most parts of the state, prompting the government to order closure of academic activities in all schools till June 22, officials said on Monday. The Disaster Management Department said 33 people lost their lives in Aurangabad, 31 in Gaya and 12 in Nawada due to the heatwave. An official of the Bihar Education Project Council said the administration has ordered suspension of classes in all government and government-aided schools till June 22. Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee agreed for live coverage of the proposed meeting with agitating junior doctors on Monday, paving way for a solution to the week-long protest. The state government had earlier turned down the striking doctors' demand for live telecast of the meeting, scheduled to be held later in the day.
