Newly appointed Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) SN Shrivastava late on Wednesday took stock of the situation in violence-hit areas of Northeast Delhi. Security has been deployed at various locations in the district with Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar among the violence-hit areas in the Northeast district. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia had also visited the area on Wednesday evening.

Justice S Muralidhar of the Delhi High Court was on Wednesday transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court by the Ministry of Law and Justice. According to a notification released by the Law Ministry, Justice S. Muralidhar was transferred after the consultation with the Chief Justice of India. Recently, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of Justice Muralidhar to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A 13-year-old girl, who had gone to school to take an examination in the Khajuri Khas area two days ago, went missing amid violence in northeast Delhi, police said on Wednesday. The girl, a Class 8 student, lived with her parents in Sonia Vihar suburb and had gone to her school, some 4.5 km from their home, Monday morning but has not returned since, they said. Her father, who deals in readymade garments, told PTI, "I was supposed to pick her up from school at 5.20 pm. But I got caught in the violence that unfolded in our area. My daughter is missing since then."

Purported images of the Life Science question paper started making rounds on WhatsApp on Wednesday after the examination of the class 10 state boards began, even as authorities said that there was no report of any leak. Purported images of two pages of the question paper were shared around 1.30 pm and officials suspect that it emerged from the Murshidabad district.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday visited sensitive areas in Northeast Delhi where violence was unleashed by rioters against the new Citizenship law. Both of them also interacted with locals and took stock of the situation. The violence has claimed over 20 lives so far. The chief minister also visited the office of deputy commissioner of police (northeast). He was accompanied by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

Regulator Sebi on Wednesday directed Orion Industries Ltd and its senior officials to refund the illegally collected amount of Rs 5 crore to investors along with 15 per cent interest.The senior officials are-- Md Mahfuz Alam, Parwez Alam, Md Kamal Koshar, Mohammad Salimuddin Ansari, Manzur Alam and Punam Bharati.The directions came after the regulator noted that the firm collected Rs 5.46 crore between 2011 and 2013 by issuing redeemable preference share (RPS), without complying with the Companies Act.

An under-trial prisoner lodged at the Thane District Jail was booked for allegedly smuggling 10 blades inside his stomach, police said on Wednesday. The jail staff noticed something suspicious about Diwakar Yadav @ Rocky when returned to the jail from his hearing in court on February 18, inspector Ashok Sawant of Thane Nagar police station said. They forced him to pass stool and a capsule containing 10 blades got ejected from his rectum, he said, adding that the purpose of smuggling the blades is yet to be ascertained.

The process of induction of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the hyper sensitive and strategically important Srinagar and Jammu airports has been completed. According to an order issued by the J&K police headquarters on Tuesday, all the police personnel of J&K Police presently posted at the twin airports are being transferred to their parent zones with immediate effect.

An Indian Air Force aircraft carrying around 15 tonnes of medical supplies left for the coronavirus-hit Chinese city of Wuhan on Wednesday. The C-17 military aircraft will bring back over 80 Indians and around 40 citizens from neighbouring countries, government sources said. Last week, India accused China of deliberately delaying permission to send the aircraft while allowing other countries to operate flight from Wuhan to evacuate their citizens. China had rejected India's charges.

The Maharashtra government has proposed to set up a dedicated disease control and prevention institute, medical education minister Amit Deshmukh said on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters here, he also said the medical education department requires Rs 2,000 crore as against the present budgetary allocation of Rs 1,200 crore. "I have requested for additional budgetary allocation for my department," he said.
