The latest figures from Kantar show that the Irish grocery market remains buoyant, with growth accelerating to 3.3% in the 12 weeks to 6 October 2019. As the Brexit deadline looms, shoppers are showing no signs of concern, visiting stores more often and making larger trips this period than they did last year. Customers will also have made savings, with price per pack down by 0.4%, the first time this has declined since June 2018.

Winnow, the technology company behind Winnow Vision, the artificial intelligence tool helping chefs cut food waste in half, is announcing the completion of its series B round of funding at a total of $12m. This follows a recent $8m loan from The European Investment Bank (EIB), with the help of the Juncker Plan, which focuses on boosting investment to generate jobs and growth.

Firetree, the single-estate rich volcanic chocolate from the Pacific Islands and Madagascar, was founded in 2017 by David Zulman, Martyn O’Dare and Aidan Bishop who between them have over 85 years’ experience in the chocolate industry. The British made chocolate brand, boasting vegan and dairy-free credentials, launched in June 2019. The manufacture of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery is worth £1.1bn to the UK economy, according to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Department for International Trade(April 2018).

Service Management Group (SMG), a global customer, patient and employee experience management provider to more than 500 brands, has announced a new customer experience management programme with Marston’s, the United Kingdom’s leading independent brewing and pub retailing business, which oversees and operates six breweries, 60 inns and more than 1,500 pubs.

Today, M&S has confirmed it’s opening a new 60,000sq ft store at British Land’s Giltbrook Retail Park, Nottingham, in the summer of 2020. The announcement comes less than two weeks before M&S opens a major new store in Cornwall – it’s first Clothing store opening in the South West for ten years. Both stores are part of M&S’s store transformation plan – with the retailer closing, relocating, opening and renewing stores to offer customers the very best experience – however, whenever, wherever they want to shop. Alongside this, M&S is aiming to grow Clothing online sales to a third of its total sales – supported by its network of over 1,000 stores, where 70% of online orders are already collected.
