PETALING JAYA : Malaysia’s position on the Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index (MMGPI) has improved to 16 and is now rated C+, compared with its ranking of 20 and a rating of C in 2018. In a statement, the MMGPI said Malaysia achieved an index of 60.6, from 58.5 in 2018, surpassing the average global index of 59.3. This was primarily due to the updated data on the net replacement rate published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The MMGPI’s data suggests as pension assets increase, individuals feel wealthier and therefore are likely to borrow more. Mercer’s Dr David Knox, author of the study, said the growth in assets held by pension funds means households feel more financially secure in having future in.
One frequently cited yet understudied channel through which money matters for college students is course availability- colleges may respond to budgetary pressure by reducing course offerings. Open admissions policies, binding class size constraints, and heavy reliance on state funding may make this channel especially salient at community colleges, which enroll 47% of U.S. undergraduates in public colleges and 55% of underrepresented minority students. We use administrative course registration data from a large community college in California to test this mechanism. By exploiting discontinuities in course admissions created by waitlists, we find that students stuck on a waitlist and shut out of a course section were 25% more likely to take z.
This paper uses administrative data to analyze a large and 8-year long employer payroll tax rate cut in Sweden for young workers aged 26 or less. First, we document that while active, the reform raised youth employment among the treated workers. The long-run effects are twice as large as the medium-run effects and likely driven by labor demand (as workers' take-home wages did not respond). Second, we document novel labor-demand-driven "hysteresis" from this policy – i.e. persistent employment effects even after the subsidy no longer applies – along two dimensions. Over the lifecycle, employment effects persist even after workers age out of eligibility. Two years after the repeal, employment remains elevated at the maximal reform level in th.

We study the estimation of substitution patterns within the discrete choice framework developed by Berry (1994) and Berry, Levinsohn, and Pakes (1995). Our objective, is to illustrate the consequences of using weak instruments in this non-linear GMM context, and propose a new class of instruments that can be used to estimate a large family of models with aggregate data. We argue that relevant instruments should reflect the (exogenous) degree of differentiation of each product in a market (Differentiation IVs), and provide a series of examples to illustrate the performance of simple instrument functions.

The top 20 CleanTechnica stories of the week were led by a Tesla Model Y production plan an insider leaked to us, which is both super exciting and something to be cautious about. The second most popular piece was a story about Tesla Model 3 range after 50,000 miles of driving. The black swan story of the week that climbed its way into the top 3 was on the topic of fusion energy. (Proceed with caution if you plan to read about that news item.)
