Decades ago, when I was in high school, I read Willy Ley’s book Engineer’s Dreams: Great Projects that Could Come True. I vividly remember one of these gigantic, pie-in-the-sky dream projects. If the Congo River were dammed at the right spot, a large lake would form. It would then overflow into a river feeding into Lake Chad. Lake Chad would fill up to its prehistoric level and would then overflow into an ancient river that once flowed through Algeria and Morocco into the Mediterranean Sea.

Why has Twitter become such a battleground over Tesla? Amit Katwala writes in Wired UK, "There’s no reason why a car company should be so divisive, but the warring tribes of Tesla fans and [Tesla haters] speak to human nature, the cult of celebrity, and the polarizing impact of the social media echo chamber." As part of my efforts to fight untrue Tesla myths, I recently engaged the Tesla community to create a Tesla Myth Busters FAQ page. I sent out a call to “assemble a full-fledged myth-busting campaign,” and people responded. We simply want to set the record straight regarding various Tesla myths. Thanks to the Tesla community who heeded my call, this first draft was produced in just four days, which is astonishing and wonderful when you think about it.
