In communities across the country, Canadians are feeling the impacts of climate change and want to be part of the solution. By investing in new technologies and projects that reduce pollution and make our communities more resilient to climate change, we can also create jobs, make life more affordable for families and businesses, and help Canadian companies compete and win in the new global low-carbon economy.
Canada’s climate continues to change at a rapid pace. As referenced in Canada’s Changing Climate Report, this warmer climate could intensify and increase extreme weather events such as wildfires, urban floods, droughts and heatwaves. The Government of Canada is helping Canadians adapt to the impacts of climate change, which are already affecting our families, homes, communities, and economies.
Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, along with Chief Darlene Bernard and Chief Junior Gould of the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of Prince Edward Island, and Brad Trivers, Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Change for Prince Edward Island, will make announcements regarding nature protection on Prince Edward Island.
