The is one year old, but many prefer it over the newer due to the price. Samsung's last year's flagship can be had for as low as $550 when paid outright, but you can probably score a better deal at one of the US carriers. While it's clear that the Note 9 is no longer that $1,000+ smartphone from last year, it's amazing how low its price dropped after just one year. Microsoft is selling the Galaxy Note 9 for just $550, so you'll be saving $450 if you go for the deal. Even better, the 512GB model is getting a much bigger $600 discount, so you'll be able to buy one for just $650. Although ...

The man widely considered responsible for T-Mobile's astonishing growth these last few years might have one foot out the door after an industry-disrupting reign of more than seven years over the "Un-carrier", but before , John Legere needs to complete one final daunting task. Of course, there are some things the nation's number four CEO (as ranked by Glassdoor earlier this year based on reviews from employees) can't control, and after working tirelessly since April 2018 to , , and as possible to support a between his (current) company and Sprint, Legere's entire legacy now ...

You might have heard it on the web: smartwatches are finally good now. The best ones out there are fast, have a more refined interface than before, can keep track of your health and your fitness, some of them track your sleep, deliver notifications right on your wrist, and can basically turn you into a type of a futuristic "augmented superhuman" that you may have seen in sci-fi movies. As evident by the title of this article, I disagree with that premise and despite testing and using a bunch of smartwatches throughout 2019, I refuse to wear a smartwatch.

The iPhone 11 got off to such a great start in China that Apple returned to growth for the first time in twelve months. But according to one analyst, that new-found success was unfortunately very short-lived. iPhone sales are down dramatically in China The latest data gathered by analyst Matt Cabral suggests Apple experienced a very noticeable 10.3% year-on-year drop in iPhone shipments throughout October in China. This was followed by an even bigger and more worrying 35.4% year-on-year decline in November. Corroborating the news is an earlier report by Rosenblatt analyst ...

The recently announced Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 debuted a new design language that’s expected to grace all future Samsung phones regardless of their price tag. Several people have criticized this strategy because it limits the differentiating factors between devices but, in my opinion, it’s probably the company’s smartest move in years. The iconic home button was Samsung at its best Let’s start things off by leaping back in time to four years ago. Samsung was at the top of its game with the well-received Galaxy S6 and the much-loved Galaxy Note 5. Budget and mid-range products weren’t receiving ...

It might seem that everyone around you owns a high-priced flagship phone. But (via ), less than 10% of American consumers spend more than $1,000 for a new handset. So no, not everyone on the subway next to you is sporting the or the . And this means that the transition to 5G might not provide a big boost to the U.S. smartphone market as many expect. 5G, the next generation in wireless connectivity, will deliver download data speeds about 10 times faster than 4G LTE, and the faster speeds could draw in consumers who normally don't spend four figures on a new phone. ...

Low-light photography remains a battleground for smartphone manufacturers and back in September Apple introduced its answer to Google's Night Sight. When it comes to transitions between wireless generations, the Apple iPhone has never lead the way. Consider that the original worked on AT&T's slow as molasses EDGE network. Not only couldn't you use the browser and receive a phone call at the same time, YouTube videos were practically unwatchable unless you found a Wi-Fi signal. Meanwhile, 3G had already been available for years with Verizon the first to launch a 3G network in the states back in January 2002. It wasn't until the second-generation iPhone launched in 2008 (the ) that Apple had brought the iPhone's wireless capabilities ...

A courtroom in Manhattan hosts a different type of drama than the kind New Yorkers love to view on a Broadway stage. The non-jury trial being heard in the courtroom will determine whether T-Mobile gets to complete its $26.5 billion merger with Sprint. 13 state attorneys general and the AG of Washington D.C. are trying to block the merger, calling it anti-competitive. If you're the type that looks at the Racing Form and analyzes past performance to make their wagers, you would not bet on T-Mobile closing on the merger because of its track record. In 2011, (pre-Legere ...

Do you remember the Typo? This was a special case for the Apple iPhone that came with a dedicated physical QWERTY keyboard. It was created by T.V. personality Ryan Seacrest and launched in 2014. On the surface, the Typo seemed like a great idea. However, Seacrest made a huge blunder; because he personally used BlackBerry phones when the Typo was designed, the QWERTY keys on product bore more than a passing resemblance to the physical QWERTY found on BlackBerry handsets, specifically the one on the . After BlackBerry went to court to block the Typo, the Typo 2 was announced. ...

The annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas has never been primarily about mobile devices, but while most major smartphone vendors nowadays seem to prefer to unveil their hot new stuff at dedicated solo events or gatherings like Barcelona's Mobile World Congress, there are always at least one or two companies looking to start the year with a bang at CES. In 2020, OnePlus will apparently try to make a splash in glamorous Las Vegas with...
