The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday that domestic supplies of natural gas rose by 58 billion cubic feet for the week ended Aug. 7. That was slightly higher than the average increase of 51 billion forecast by analysts polled by S&P Global Platts. Total stocks now stand at 3.332 trillion cubic feet, up 608 billion cubic feet from a year ago, and 443 billion cubic feet above the five-year average, the government said. September natural gas traded up by 2.9 cents, or 1.4%, at $2.181 per million British thermal units. It was trading at $2.171 before the data.
