Australian actor Hugh Jackman has opened the 2019 Brit Awards with a bang, performing his platinum-selling single The Greatest Show from The Greatest Showman. The 1975 were crowned the big winners at the awards, picking up the night’s top prizes for best British album and group. In the other main categories, George Ezra and Jorja Smith took home the male and female artist prizes, while Tom Walker was crowned best breakthrough act. Performances came from Little Mix, George Ezra, The 1975 and Jess Glynne and H.E.R, as well Pink - who closed the show with a medley of hits after picking up the outstanding contribution award.

Chicago Police has formally charged Jussie Smollett with felony criminal charges of disorderly conduct and filing a false police report, three weeks after the ‘Empire’ actor claimed he was the victim of a hate crime. Local authorities released a statement saying they are speaking with the 36-year-old's representatives to negotiate 'a reasonable surrender' for his arrest. Smollett claimed he was attacked by two masked men who shouted racial and homophobic epithets at him while he was walking home from a sandwich shop at 2am on January 29th. He also claims the attackers were US President Donald Trump supporters. A bail hearing will be scheduled on Thursday, US time.

South Korean technology giant Samsung has unveiled its highly anticipated two-in-one foldable smartphone at its Unpacked event in the United States. The Galaxy Fold, which will set consumers back more than $2,700, can transform into a tablet with an 18-centimetre-wide screen. Tech Guide editor Stephen Fenech told Sky News the phone is the first step towards a ‘whole new category’ of phone design. Mr Fenech says he hopes it will be available shortly after hitting the American market in April.

Chicago police have named Jussie Smollett as a suspect for filing a false report, three weeks after the ‘Empire’ actor claimed he was the victim of a hate crime. Authorities are presenting evidence to a grand jury which is expected to determine whether to indict the 36-year-old actor with filing a false police report. Smollett claimed he was attacked by two masked men who shouted racial and homophobic epithets at him while he was walking home from a sandwich shop at 2am on January 29th. If found guilty, he faces up to three years in prison.
