Any rational person who listened to Hillary Clinton’s recent suggestion that Congresswoman and combat veteran Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) was a Russian plant in the 2020 election understood it to be the ramblings of a person unglued. But on Friday, CBS Evening News touted Clinton’s baseless smears by calling them “extraordinary” and “stunning”. But come Sunday, CBS had avoided the topic while ABC and NBC were pumping the brakes and, surprisingly, calling Clinton out.
The New York Times lead story Sunday told a slanted, sympathetic tale of Democrats being outgunned in social media campaign ads in the 2020 election runup by a ruthless and lying Trump campaign: "On any given day, the Trump campaign is plastering ads all over Facebook, YouTube and the millions of sites served by Google, hitting the kind of incendiary themes -- immigrant invaders, the corrupt media -- that play best on platforms where algorithms favor outrage and political campaigns are free to disregard facts."
CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter completely dismissed the Project Veritas tapes exposing CNN in a podcast with Charles Sykes of the Trump-hating site The Bulwark. Stelter touted CNN spokesman Matt Dornic simply tweeting "Yawn" in reaction. "I don't think O'Keefe has published anything surprising or newsworthy," he claimed. "There's no there there to the claims O'Keefe is promoting."
The New York Times is again trying to police the boundaries of allowable debate, with a supposed controversy over a scheduled meeting at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort by a group reviled by the left for its documentation of the threat of radical Islam: "Mar-a-Lago Again Under Fire for Hosting Group That Promoted Islamophobia."
Bill Maher closed Friday’s edition of Real Time by pleading with President Trump to take $1 million in cash and resign from office. After portraying the President as a “liar” and a swindler, Maher outlined an elaborate proposal to team up with celebrities and ordinary Trump-hating Americans to help him “go away,” in other words: resign.
One of the most interesting parts of the CNN Democrat debate this week had nothing to do with the debates. It came during a commercial break. The Washington Post bought commercial time -- which isn’t shocking, since the Democrats are the paper’s natural subscriber base. It’s how they promoted themselves that was truly jaw-dropping.
At the Daily Signal, John Cooper of the Heritage Foundation warned he had an unhappy experience with the "fact checking" unit at CNN. They reached out to Heritage for analysis of President Trump's recent comments about the American military's munitions stockpile when he took office. "CNN completely omitted the wealth of data provided by a Heritage Foundation defense analyst."
Spending millions on his own campaign, is liberal billionaire Tom Steyer drawing into question his goal of getting money out of politics? Steyer spent a whopping $47 million “during the first three months of his presidential bid” (84 days), which “places him on track to join the biggest self-funding political candidates in American history,” The Los Angeles Times reported October 16.
