Last August your sitemaster attended and reported from the third iteration of the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC), held in Basel, Switzerland (see here, here, and here). Lu-177-PSMA usually improves survival We’ve seen in a couple of small trials in Germany and Australia that Lu-177-PSMA seemed to provide better than expected survival. In Germany, average (median) overall survival was 12.9 months across 104 patients. In Australia, average (median) overall survival was 13.3 months across 50 treated patients. In both trials, all or almost all patients had already received taxane chemotherapy […]

Over the past month there have been no new postings to this web site. Your sitemaster apologizes for this hiatus. The reasons are complex and include the sitemaster’s personal health status (nothing really serious but distinctly debilitating) and other business and personal pressures. The current goal is to start to get things back on track […]

It is with great regret that we must report the demise — last Saturday — of Dr. Gerald (“Gerry”) Chodak — formerly a professor of urology at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Your sitemaster first met Gerry Chodak in 1989 at a meeting in California, and communicated with him regularly over the […]

Although at least three randomized clinical trials have told us that adjuvant radiation after prostatectomy often affords better results than just taking a "wait-and-see" approach, most radiation oncologists have been reluctant to immediately treat every man with poor post-prostatectomy pathology results (positive margins, stage T3/4, high Gleason score).
