Hristo Vodenov) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov leads a government delegation in Greece for the fourth meeting of the Council for High-level Cooperation between the governments of Bulgaria and Greece. Arriving in Alexandroupolis on Wednesday, Borissov was welcomed by Greek Foreign Minister Nikolaos Dendias. February 26 (BTA) - Inflation has swallowed close to 2,019,000,000 leva of Bulgarians' savings in a year. The annual savings losses are calculated at 3.63 per cent as of end-December, 2019, based on the official statistics (the inflation rate in January 2020 being 4.2 per cent year-on-year, and average deposit interest rates standing around 0.57 per cent, according to central bank data), commented Victor Maner, co-founder of Impetus Capital, which invests in growing innovative companies. February 25 (BTA) - The road toll system for heavy-duty vehicles will be officially launched on March 1, Deputy Regional Development and Public Works Minister Nikolay Nankov told a briefing on Tuesday, as quoted by his ministry. He added that no more compromises will be made with the deadline for the system's launch. The road toll system was initially supposed to go into operation in August 2019, but its launch was postponed to no later than March 1, 2020. Under the system, vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes have to pay a distance-based toll, instead of purchase a time-based vignette as they currently do. Nobody in this country has been infected, the head of the Military Medical Academy in Sofia, Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski, told journalists here Tuesday. February 21 (BTA) - Talking to Bulgarian reporters in Brussels on Friday, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov denied allegations linking him to a house in Barcelona and money laundering published in the Barcelona-based El Periodico daily. The article was discussed in the Bulgarian Parliament on the same day, and the Interior Minister said the Bulgarian authorities had not been notified of an investigation. El Periodico said that the Catalan police and the anti-corruption prosecution office in Madrid are investigating a potential involvement of Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov in international money laundering, with Barcelona as the final destination. February 21 (BTA) - The Commission for Financial Supervision (CFS) has refused to approve a prospectus by Fibank to increase its capital by an initial public offering of shares. The decision was made on Thursday. In a statement Fibank said that it will take into consideration the recommendations of the regulator and will resubmit the prospectus for approval in the shortest time. "Fibank continues to implement its plans to raise its capital," the statement said. Fibank is the largest bank in Bulgaria which operates with Bulgarian capital and is the second largest lender to Bulgarian businesses.
