제너럴모터스(General Motors·GM)는 최근 미래 자동차 산업을 선도할 차세대 디지털 자동차 플랫폼을 공개했다고 26일 밝혔다. 해당 플랫폼은 시간 당 4.5TB(테라바이트)의 데이터 처리가 가능한 하드웨어가 탑재된다. 현재 GM의 차량에 적용된 하드웨어보다 5배 향상된 성능이다. 이에 대해 마크 로이스(Mark Reuss) GM 사장은 “현재는 물론 미래의 제품에도 소프트웨어의 중요성은 간과할 수 없다”며 “새로운 플랫폼은 전기차와 자율주행 등 GM의 다방면에 걸친 미래 기술 혁신을 뒷받침해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다. 이어 “향후 미래 자동차 산업의 변화를 고려해 전자구동 시스템, 반자율 주행, 첨단 능동 안전 시스템 등 다양한 기능을 위한 더욱 강력한 정보 처리 능력과 대역폭이 필요할 것으로 예상된다”며 “새롭게 발표된 디지털 플랫폼은 이를 위한 것”이라고 강조했다. 새로운 디지털 플랫폼은 GM의 차세대 제품과 전기차, 액티브 세이프티 시스템, 인포테인먼트 시스템, 커넥티비티 및 반자율.
