Distributor still awaiting decision from Australian regulatory body for $5.4bn Apollo takeover. Tech Data's $5.4bn takeover by private equity firm Apollo Global is still awaiting approval from the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board. Despite successful first quarter, vendor sounds caution to investors for weaker Q2. Dell Technologies released its financial results yesterday evening for the three-month period ending 1 May. Revenues were flat on a year-on-year basis at $21.95bn, while operating income fell by 22 per cent to $2.16bn. Healthcare workers are a prime target for hackers, according to David Critchley. NHS frontline staff are at particular risk of being targeted by hackers due to their proximity to the crisis, according to MobileIron's UK&I director. The PC market in EMEA will contract in the final six months of the year due to the impending global recession, according to data from IDC. The channel should not expect consolidation to slow down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Park Place Technologies' global VP of channel sales. Market watcher Context outlines which market segments have been hardest hit by COVID-19, in North America and in Europe. Hardware has been the worst hit segment of the enterprise channel market in the first four months of this year, according to the latest figures from channel analyst firm Context. Its latest data shows that enterprise hardware revenue declines have widened from 1 per cent year on year in January, to 11 per cent in March and 17 per cent in April. Context's head of enterprise, Gurvan Meyer, said the market has been strongly impacted by the suspension of projects during the crisis. Dell plans to cut some staff benefits including pay rises, promotions and 401(k) contributions as it looks to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis unscathed.
