Vietnamese operators MobiFone, VNPT and Viettel have all submitted proposals to participate in pilot mobile money services. Qatar-based Ooredoo Group has reported an 18% slump in full year profit for 2018, partly as a result of the ongoing impact of Indonesia's SIM registration regulations on earnings at subsidiary Indosat Ooredoo. The operator also blamed foreign exchange losses and declining revenues in Algeria for the decline in profit to 1.56 billion riyals ($428.5 million). China Mobile Hong Kong has relocated its 5G innovation center - known as the Hong Kong Open Lab - to Hong Kong Science Park. The relocation is aimed at accelerating the development of Hong Kong's 5G ecosystem and catering to the needs of local business partners. Analysys Mason forecasts that the total number of IoT connections (over both cellular and LPWA networks) could reach 5.4 billion in 2027. One year after US operators T-Mobile and Sprint finally finished the preliminaries and announced a merger, the proposed deal is under fire. Japan's NTT Docomo has announced a new simplified mobile service fee structure that the operator says will reduce mobile charges by between 20% and 40%. Synergy Research Group (SRG) says a 30% spike in public cloud spending the data center hardware and software market grow to $150 billion in 2018.
