Data from the study assesses consumer exposure through their diets to pesticide residues and performs an analysis of the chronic (long-term) and acute (short-term) risks. It also provides risk managers with important information on which to base decisions regarding future control measures. This year EFSA has translated the results of the coordinated program into browsable charts and graphs published online, to make the data more accessible to non-specialists.

03 Apr 2020 --- Researchers have found freeze-drying technology could result in tastier ice cream that melts at a slower rate – offering food processors new opportunities, according to European Freeze Dry, a freeze-dried ingredients manufacturer. The research, published in the Journal of Food Processing and Preservation , was carried out by the Agricultural Research Service (ASR) in the US, found freeze-dried fruit powders including strawberries, blackberries and raspberries improved the taste and structure of ice cream and other frozen desserts.

02 Apr 2020 --- Since the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Trademark was launched in 2011, it has grown exponentially from 12 countries to 60 countries, and now appears on more than 400 consumer products. The trademark is now more sought after by the Supply Chain Associates and Ordinary Consumer Goods Manufacturers and has seen rapid growth in the last six months, with almost 140 new trademark applications received from RSPO members. 01 Apr 2020 --- German start-up Savanna Ingredients’ low-caloric sugar, Allulose, has obtained a self-affirmed Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status in the US following a comprehensive evaluation by a panel of independent experts. 01 Apr 2020 --- UK-based supplier of herbs, spices and dried goods, EHL Ingredients has noted a shift in demand for its products, which it supplies under its Lähde brand, during the coronavirus pandemic. According to Managing Director, Tasneem Alonzo, in the past week, there has been a sharp rise in kitchen cupboard staple products such as rice, flours, lentils, grains and bakery ingredients which have been shipped out to retailers and manufacturers across the country. EHL is also anticipating a shortage of products from China including garlic, ginger and sunflower seeds, but the company is “working hard to fulfil orders with our customers and to keep prices stable,” Alonzo tells FoodIngredientsFirst .
