Health Canada has completed the re-evaluation of acephate. Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada has determined that continued registration of certain products containing acephate is acceptable. An evaluation of available scientific information found that most uses of acephate products meet current standards for protection of human health and the environment when used according to revised label directions, which include new mitigation measures. Certain uses and application methods for acephate are being cancelled to address potential risks of concern to human health and the environment. Label amendments are required. No additional data are required at this time.

On December 13, 2017, Health Canada published the Regulations Amending the Food and Drug Regulations (DIN Requirements for Drugs in Dosage Form Listed in Schedule C to the Food and Drugs Act) in Canada Gazette, Part II, to apply to Schedule C Drugs (Radiopharmaceuticals and Kits) the requirement to have a Drug Identification Number (DIN) in order for a drug to be sold in Canada.

Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) is granting registration for the sale and use of Tetraniliprole Technical, Tetraniliprole 200SC Insecticide, Tetraniliprole 480FS, Tetraniliprole 200SC Turf Insecticide and Tetrino containing the technical grade active ingredient tetraniliprole, to control a wide range of insect pests on labelled fruit and vegetable crops and turf.

Health Canada has completed the re-evaluation of strychnine (Richardson's ground squirrels). Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada is cancelling the registration of strychnine, and all associated end-use products, used to control Richardson's ground squirrels for sale and use in Canada. An evaluation of available scientific information has not shown that risks to the environment are acceptable when strychnine is used according to the current conditions of registration, or when additional mitigation is considered. No additional data are requested.

Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), is granting registration for the sale and use of Pelargonic Acid Technical, Beloukha Herbicide and Beloukha Agricultural Herbicide, containing the technical grade active ingredient pelargonic acid, to provide burndown, spot, and inter-row weed control in fruit, vegetable and field crops, desiccant and pre-harvest weed management in potato and cereal crops, sucker control in grapes and tree fruits, and control of unwanted weeds and mosses in non-crop areas.

The purpose of this Pest Management Regulatory Agency Guidance Document is to inform all stakeholders of standard definitions of application types and human health precautionary label statements for structural pest control products (SPCPs). The revised definitions will provide a uniform language through which all stakeholders in the structural pest control industry can communicate. Also, the human health precautionary statements will help facilitate consistency in the language used for various risk mitigation measures to minimize exposure to those applying the SPCPs and those entering and/or residing in treated areas.

To provide sponsors of new drug submissions and abbreviated new drug submissions with the information necessary to comply with Sections C.08.002(2)(h), C.08.002.1(2)©(ii) and C.08.003(3) of the Food and Drug Regulations (Regulations) with respect to comparative pharmacokinetic studies, with emphasis on in vivo comparative pharmacokinetic studies, used in support of the safety and efficacy of subsequent-entry orally inhaled drug products (OIPs).
